Bringing diverse voices together
April 13, 2010
We are just a day away from the opening of our annual conference and the hotel feels abuzz with activity and excitement as we complete the final preparations. We are thrilled that we have been putting on one of the the premier climate policy events for eight years in a row and that it has grown in size and stature.
This year is very special as we will draw a clear line from California leadership to international action with key speakers from California government being joined by a wide array of national and international thought leaders. I have been associated in some way with this event nearly since its inception and I think we may have the best and most interesting sessions and speakers to date.
But, what was particularly gratifying to me as I looked over the delegate list was the return of many old friends and colleagues. This event has truly become the annual gathering of our community of leaders working to help solve the challenge of climate change. I am also very pleased to see lots of new names from government agencies, progressive and innovative businesses, and from the academic and nonprofit communities who are joining us in this fight!
It is precisely the bringing together of disparate voices and perspectives that has helped make our efforts – whether in our historic role as the California Climate Action Registry or more recently as the Climate Action Reserve – so successful. It is also what makes the Navigating the American Carbon World such an interesting and unique event!
I look forward to seeing many you over the next few days and if you are not fortunate enough to be here in beautiful San Francisco this year, I urge you to start planning now to attend next year’s event.
