ECC was recently rated #1 US Project Developer in a Point Carbon ranking. As Portfolio Manager, Derek oversees ECC’s portfolio of emission reduction projects and manages ECC’s Carbon Credit Pool, a private commodity fund. Derek has extensive experience with agricultural methane projects- ECC has more than 30 agricultural projects across the United States and five in Mexico. ECC also has dozens of active projects in the areas of landfill methane, composting/waste diversion, and ozone depleting substance destruction.\

Derek was a founder and Treasurer of the Carbon Offset Provider’s Coalition (COPC). Derek has also participated in several protocol development groups, including his recent participation in the CAR ODS workgroup. Additionally, Derek has worked on several academic research studies involving climate change responses; cap and trade design; and the role of voluntary and compliance offsets with researchers from Cornell and several other institutions. Derek is a regular guest lecturer at Penn State where he addresses business students regarding the impact of climate change policy on business.

Derek joined ECC in 2006. He is the former Director of Equity Research for the Nittany Lion Fund, and a former Business Consultant for the SBDC. Derek received a B.A. in Sociology and an MBA in Investment Management and Portfolio Analysis from Penn State.
